Unconventional Gas (UG) refers to natural gas contained in low permeability rocks (<0.1 md), coals, shales or hydrates. The development and production of these resources requires “unconventional” drilling, completion, stimulation and production practices.

UG resources are present all across Canada and the U.S. With production from conventional natural gas resources declining, industry focus has increasingly moved towards unconventional gas resource plays.
