Shallow Rights Reversion
As of January 1, 2009 Shallow Rights Reversion (SRR) is being implemented by the Alberta government on Crown P&NG agreements. In order to encourage development of uphole zones and increase Alberta production levels, those zones above the shallowest productive zone in an agreement will be severed from the agreement at the date of continuation.
Clover specializes in tight, shallow and unconventional gas, all of which feature prominently among those stratigraphic zones to be affected by SRR. Clover will work with individual clients to develop a suitable approach to SRR mitigation, and implement the engineering and geologic work necessary to prevent loss of productive zones under the regulations.
Data management will be an integral component of successful SRR mitigation, even in companies with a modest number of Alberta land agreements. Significant support from land agents will be important. Managing technical data for large amounts of wells will also become increasingly important. Clover works with our clients to design a data-management system to suit their needs.
